Three things will last forever – faith, hope and love – and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
During the Second World War the Island of Malta was protected for a period of time by a number of Gloster Gladiator aircraft. There were six of these aircraft defending the island however most of the time only 2 or 3 were available and the others used for spare parts. They were soon joined by other more advanced aircraft however for a period of six weeks these aircraft and their pilots flew out to protect the Island. These aircraft have been immortalised in history as Faith Hope and Charity.
This is one of the most quoted verses in the Bible and in the current times it is one that we need to spend time meditating on. In these times of plague, pestilence, the murder of Christians in Nigeria, the oppression of the locals in West Papua, the riots in parts of the world and so many other problems and chaos it is worth pausing and reflecting on what is good.
We need to renew our faith in God and that He has in the end things under control, we need to continue to hold onto that hope that we have thanks to Christ’s sacrifice and we need to remember to love sacrificially and continue to undertake works of charity.
This way we can show those who wish to tear down and destroy what it really is to live in community and harmony.
Take time to meditate on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Godspeed
