The Yass Valley Anglican Church is part of the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn and is one of the oldest parishes outside of Sydney.
The Yass Valley lies to the west of the nations capital, Canberra, in the heart of Australia’s fine wool and cool climate wine districts.
We are a rural parish operating at a number of locations. We worship at
- Saint Clements, Yass;
- All Saints Murrumbateman;
- Saint Marys, Mundoonan;
- Saint James, Bowning; and
- Our Lady of the Rosary, Wee Jasper (thanks to the Catholic parish of Yass)
- Thomas Eccles Gardens Retirement Home, Yass
- Gwen Warmington Lodge Aged Care Facility, Yass
Additional congregations have formed in homes and schools which are supported and encouraged through the work of Rev Judy Heggart (Pioneer Priest) and Mrs Helena Painting (BCA children’s and family worker).
In 2013 we celebrated our 175th anniversary and is a wonderful reminder to us of the incalculable heritage we have in both God and in the body of Christ.
As an Anglican community we value both liturgical tradition and contemporary expressions of worship and service to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We are not perfect. Daily we rely on the sufficiency of scripture, our obligation to worship and pray, the continuing need to be guided by the Holy Spirit, and the command of Jesus to seek first the Kingdom of God here on earth through the sacrificial love of both our God and our neighbour.
